Record 7,947 job offers to VIT students

The interviews were conducted for the students from B. Tech, M. Tech courses

Vellore: A national record of around 7947 job offer letters were issued to VIT university students from Chennai and Vellore campuses who participated in a series of campus interviews conducted by top-five IT Companies between September 1 and September 15.

The interviews were conducted for the students from B. Tech, M. Tech courses and also for the students from M. Sc (Computer Science) and M.S (Software) streams. Cognizant had offered its highest record of placements to 1914 students, which is also considered a national record in slot one placements. With the issue of more job offer letters to its students, VIT university has been heading for the book of records for the fifth time with the highest number students selected from the university receiving their job-offer letters at one go.
TCS has recruited 1864 candidates, while 1472 candidates were selected for Accenture, Infosys picked up 1456 candidates and Wipro selected 1241 candidates.

VIT university chancellor Dr G. Viswanathan while presiding over a function on Wednesday, appreciating the university students’ talent said, that he never wanted even a single student from the university going out to register their names with the employment exchanges for jobs. He also pointed out that around 1.7 lakh B.E and B.Tech students and another 1.7 lakh M.E and M. Tech students had registered themselves with employment exchanges.

He said that more than 300 companies were waiting to recruit students for jobs and the interviews would be taking place in VIT soon. VIT university vice-president Sekar Viswanathan in his address at the function said the students from VIT university were given more job offers, because of the quality education under the able guidance good faculty.
