World’s first 8K TV priced at Rs 90 lakh to start shipping in October
Sharp showed off its 85-inch 8K and 120-inch 4K TVs at the CES 2015 in Las Vegas
As though full HD content is easy and cheaply available, the tech companies are focusing on throwing the 4K and now 8K televisions to the market. Sharp, the tech giant famous in televisions and other electronic equipment showed off the 85-inch 8K television along with a 120-inch 4K TV and a 60-inch wraparound TV at the CES 2015 in Las Vegas.
The 8K TV will have a native resolution of 7680 x 4320 pixels and Sharp states that it is the first 8K television in the world which will be ready for any 8K broadcast. The TV will also have a refresh rate of 12Hz, making it 3D capable. 12 bits per pixel, a contrast ratio of 100,000:1, and a brightness of 400 cd/m2 are other features of the 8K display panel. The TV will also feature a surround sound speaker system with a power rating of 65W (10W+10W+10W+10W+25W). The 8K TV will use two HDMI ports simultaneously to support the native resolution. What is also shocking is that the TV will not give you a relief with a power bill as the total consumption of the 8K idiot box is a staggering 1440 watts. The television carries a model number as LV-85001 and will weigh in at 100 Kg.
The TV was speculated to be launched in Japan in early 2016, but Sharp announced that the pre-booking would start by the end of October 2015, and deliveries will be expected within three months thereafter.
The 8K TV will shoot a crater down the buyer's wallet with a price tag of a whopping USD 133,000 (approx Rs 90 lakh).
