Most of the younger crop of actors refuse to be pigeonholed into just taking their turn in front of the camera and would rather like to try their hand behind the camera too. Rajith Menon has already earned accolades for his debut directorial venture which was a six minute musical short titled as Love Policy featuring Aju Varghese and Shritha Sivadas. He will kick start his next seven minute bilingual musical today which has Zarina Wahab in the lead and will be made in Hindi tentatively titled as With Love Maa and in Tamil as Anbdendral Amma.
While Love Policy was about Love, the upcoming musical is diametrically opposite. Rajith says, “This musical is a tribute to all mothers and a reminder to children to hold tight to their mother-child relationship. It can be termed as a journey of a woman.” Zarina will be seen in a music video after a hiatus and Rajith mentions that he felt Zarina apt for the role who was very happy with the concept and agreed to do it. The shoot will be wrapped up in three days and has actor Anson playing the role of the son along with a couple of kids.
Speaking about his acting, Rajith says, “I have completed my Telugu and Hindi projects and next in line is also a Telugu project.” Mentioning that his absence from Mollywood is not a planned one, he says, “The Telugu films take a longer time to finish and I have been busy with these two projects for the past three years leaving me no time to do a Malayalam film. In three years I could have completed twenty projects in Mollywood. Also the look needs to be maintained for the Telugu and Hindi project which is why I could not accept any Mollywood offers. But I have no complaints because the exposure is more with the other Southern industries.”
