Garibi Hatao was just a slogan: PM Modi

Lucknow: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Friday, took a dig at the Congress and said  ‘Garibi Hatao’ has remained just a slogan and no sincere efforts were made in the past 50 years to change the lives of the poor.

“Chunav ke dauran gareebi ki maala japte rehna ek aam baat hai. More efforts are needed to eradicate poverty in the country and education is the best way to fight poverty,” he said addressing a gathering of rickshaw pullers in Varanasi on Friday. Mr Modi distributed e-rickshaws, solar lanterns to the poor.
