Sheena Shukkur under fire again
Attended meeting of an organisation affiliated to the Indian Union Muslim League in Dubai
Thiruvananthapuram: More trouble is in store for MG University Pro-Vice-Chancellor Sheena Shukkur who attended the meeting of an orga-nisation affiliated to the Indian Union Muslim League in Dubai recently.
The pro-CPM All- Kerala Private College Teachers’ Association has petitioned Governor P. Sathasivam, who is also the chancellor of the university, saying that she had violated the service rule which prohibits salaried government employees from political activities.
The AKPCTA pointed out that the PVC had violated the code of ethics listed in the UGC regulation 2010 and lowered the prestige of her office.
The PVC is a whole-time salaried officer of the university and her action amounted to dereliction of duty as she did not attend the important statutory meetings of the syndicate and academic council.
The petition also alleged that her action violated the provisions of the code of professional ethics of the UGC regulation 2010.
It restrains teachers from activities which tend to promote feelings of hatred and enmity among different communities, religions or linguistic groups and hinder national integration.
While inaugurating a family meet organised by Cheruvathoor Kerala Muslim Cultural Centre affiliated to the Muslim League in Dubai recently, Ms Shukkur had claimed that she and her spouse got a government bungalow and car for standing under the green flag of IUMl. Earlier, there was also allegation that the PVC had violated the norms regarding foreign trips while attending the Dubai meeting.
