Mobile phone store burgled in Sitaphalmandi

Hyderabad: A mobile phone store in Sitaphalmandi area was burgled Friday night, but the men who took away a stock of phones and cash of '1.25 lakh were apparently clever by half.
They left the covers of the phones in the shop, which have IMEI numbers that would help the police trace the burgled phones.
Police said the burglars entered the store by drilling the wall and decamped with about 40 mobile phones as also the cash stock.
G.Sridhar, a resident of Uppal, along with three of his friends, was running a mobile store. Friday night, Sridhar checked the mobile stock and cash and locked the shop around 9.30pm.
As it was raining, he did not carry the day’s cash collections to his home. The next day, when he returned, he found the shop was ransacked. Empty boxes of mobile phones were lying scattered on the floor.
“The burglars made a hole in the wall, using an iron crowbar. The building is an old one. Due to rains, the wall was wet, making the digging easy,” said Chilkalguda inspector Srinivasulu, adding the IMEI numbers would help them trace the culprits. “There are also CCTV cameras in half a km radius of the mobile store,” he said.
