Kerala Police get clues on nun’s killer

Kottayam: The police on Saturday claimed to have received vital clues on the murder of Sister Amala, 69,  who was found in a pool of blood at the Lisieux convent in Pala on Thursday. 

The murder was committed by someone familiar with the surroundings of the convent, said  South Zone ADGP K. Padmakumar who visited the convent.

Mr Padmakumar,  who reviewed the progress of the  investigation,  told reporters that the probe focussed on the unusual happenings  that occurred in the convent previously. 

A few  days ago, a  72-year-old sister had been attacked in the  convent. Kottayam district police chief Satheesh Bino, who is supervising the investigations,  said eight police teams were in charge of the case.    They were examining the finger prints  found on the walls and doors of the convent.

Among them, 13  finger prints are faint and one is clear.   The police may get a clue from these  finger prints, Mr Satheesh added.

The funeral of the deceased nun  was held at the St Jude Church, Keezhathadiyoor, on Saturday morning. The   functions began at the chapel of the Carmel medical centre at  9 a.m. 

Thamarasseri Bishop Mar Remijiose Injananiyil solemnized the holy mass  at 10 a.m.

Pala bishop Mar Joseph Kallarangattu, auxiliary bishop Mar Jacob Murikkan,  Mr Anto Antony MP, Mr P.C. George MLA and Mr P.C. Thomas among others paid their last respects when the body was placed at the chapel.
