Kochi: The LDF city councillors  on Saturday  continued  their hunger strike before the corporation demanding a judicial probe into the Fort Kochi boat mishap as the  chief minister had failed to give  a formal assurance on a judicial probe.

CPI national council member Kamala Govind visited CPM councillor K.N. Sunil Kumar and CPI councillor Joji Kurikodu who started the hunger strike on Friday  after LDF leaders K.J. Jacob and C.A. Shakeer were shifted to hospital on the fifth day of the  strike.

Kamala Govind said that  Mayor Tony Chammany should resign  as he was  incapable of protecting the city residents. A case should be registered against him  for homicide, she said.

CPI district committee member John Fernandez and  district executive committee member T.V. Sanjith also addressed the gathering. The  agitation would be intensified  in the coming days, they said.
