Rs 6 lakh ex gratia for Telangana farmers
TS government increased it to Rs 6 lakh — a lakh more than that offered by AP
Hyderabad: The Telangana government on Saturday, decided to increase ex gratia to the families of farmers who committed suicide from Rs 1.50 lakh to Rs 6 lakh from September 19.
The government had earlier come under fire for not increasing the ex gratia to the kin of farmers after the AP government had raised the amount to Rs 5 lakh in February this year.
The Telangana government increased it to Rs 6 lakh, Rs 1 lakh more than that offered by Andhra Pradesh. Of the total amount, Rs 5 lakh will be paid to the families of the farmers and Rs 1 lakh will go towards a one-time settlement of the loans obtained by the farmers.
The state has also decided to provide financial assistance of Rs 51,000 for marriage of daughters of the deceased farmers by extending the Kalyana Lakshmi scheme to them.
