UDF holds ‘people’s meet’ to protest LDF’s siege on Mayor Tony Chammany
Mr Jose made a scathing attack on the rival LDF councillors
KOCHI: The ruling United Democratic Front (UDF) held a “people’s meet” at Gandhi Square here on Saturday. Senior Congress leader A.C. Jose inaugurated the protest attended by mayor Tony Chammany and UDF councillors.
Addressing the gathering, Mr Jose made a scathing attack on the rival Left Democratic Front (LDF) councillors and their protest in the council hall the other day.
“The LDF is panic as there is a widespread sentiment in support of the continuation of the UDF rule in the corporation. Like their earlier protests, the unprecedented hostage drama they organised has also failed for want of public support,” he alleged.
“The Congress-led UDF council could implement a series of development projects, which the previous LDF councils could not take up during their 33-year-rule.” Mr Chammany presided over the meet.
Legislators Dominic Presentation, Benny Behanan, Hibi Eden, Anwar Sadat and Ludy Louis and corporation standing committee chairmen were also in attendance.
