Telangana Jagruthi foundation to adopt families of 80 farmers
Sania Mirza, Jwala Gutta and Pragyan Ojha also pledged their support to the cause
Hyderabad: Telangana Jagruthi founded by Nizamabad TRS MP Kalwakuntla Kavitha has come forward to adopt the families of 80 farmers who committed suicide due to mounting debts and crop loss. Financial assistance will be extended to the family members from November 1, she said.
Sportspersons Sania Mirza, Jwala Gutta and Pragyan Ojha on Sunday pledged their support to the cause. While Sania Mirza announced a donation of Rs 3 lakh, Pragyan Ojha donated Rs 2 lakh and Jwala Gutta, Rs 1 lakh.
At a function attended by Jwala, Pragyan Ojha and Sania Mirza’s mother Nasima Mirza, Ms Kavitha said Telangana Jagruthi TJ activists would visit about 80 families of victims and extend financial help, including helping them improve their livelihood.
Each family would be provided Rs 5,000 per month for 12 months, she said. She said the government had distributed ex-gratia to 171 farmers families out of the 252 identified so far. TJ was going to the rescue of the families who are the worst sufferers due to the death of bread winner.
