End of an era: Jagmohan Dalmiya, cricket mastermind, passes away
Dalmiya is survived by his wife Chandralekha, daughter Vaishali and son Abhishek
Kolkata: International cricket administrator and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Jagmohan Dalmiya who had been undergoing treatment over the last two days at a private hospital in south Kolkata for his cardiac ailments passed away on Sunday evening. He was 75.
Dalmiya is survived by his wife Chandralekha, daughter Vaishali and son Abhishek. In the evening Dalmiya suffered a deep cardiac arrest which led him to death, according to sources in the Cricket Association of Bengal.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, former India captain Sourav Ganguly rushed to the hospital. Dalmiya will be remembered as the man who made Indian cricket a self sufficient entity and engineered a shift of power base from its spiritual home at Lord’s to Kolkata’s Eden Gardens.
