Vijayawada: The water release from Pattiseema project may take another two weeks following a breach to Polavaram right canal.

According to irrigation officials, it requires another two weeks to regulate the situation and water release for kharif crop in Krishna delta could be possible after completion of re-pair works.

Meanwhile Krishna Delta Parirakshana Sa-mithi convener and Andhra Pradesh Con-gress Committee spo-kesperson Kolanukon-da Sivaji, who visited the breach location on Monday, demanded that the Chief Minister should break his sile-nce on the breach of the Polavaram Right Canal and constitute an inquiry committee to assess the facts of construction works for the canal.

Shivaji also demanded the resignation of water resources minister Devineni Umama-heswara Rao for faulty construction work on the Polavaram Right Canal.

He said the state government spent about '1,200 crore for the construction of canal but the work done was sub-standard. He further alleged that the en-gineers did not follow the set norms in the co-nstruction, due to pressure from Umamahe-swara Rao.

He reiterated his de-mand of white paper on the construction work of the canal from the state government.
