Over 1,000 women personnel take Delhi Police oath

148 sub-inspectors, including eight women, and 1,223 women took oath

New Delhi: A large contingent of over 1,000 women recruits are set to swell the ranks of women personnel of Delhi Police as they took oath on Tuesday after completing basic training at a colorful passing out parade here.

A total of 148 sub-inspectors, including eight women, and 1,223 women and 70 male constables of Delhi Police took oath at the ceremony held at the Police Training College in Jharoda Kalan.

The women constables have undergone unarmed combat and commando training at the Jharoda Kalan PTC with special emphasis on the safety and security of women.

Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi received the salute by the marching contingents. Addressing the personnel, Bassi called upon them to stay ahead of their times by upgrading their professional skills and to serve the public with a humanitarian approach.

Awards were also handed out onj the occasion with the 'All Round Best' trophies presented to Shri Narain Ojha for sub inspector batch and Dinesh Dahiya and Sheelu Singh for the best recruit of batch numbers 103 and 104 among constables.

As part of their training the sub-inspectors were instructed in law, police science, criminology, computer application, security management and cyber crime investigation.
