Supreme Court asks MHA to reply PIL on Bose file
Though the report was submitted in 1956, the government has remained silent
New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday while declining to entertain a public interest writ petition, asked the Union ministry of home affairs to reply at the earliest to representations sent by Snehasish Mukherjee seeking de-classification of files relating to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.
A Bench of justices Anil R. Dave and A.K. Goel told Devjyoti Bose, counsel appearing for Mr Mukherjee observed, “He (Bose) is an excellent person. But why should you want to drag this issue here. You go to the Calcutta High Court or we will ask the government to consider and reply to your representations.”
Accordingly the Bench disposed of the petition with a direction to the home ministry to pass appropriate orders on the representation. The petitioner said the “Dissentient Report” in (1956) filed by non-official member of Netaji Enquiry Committee (Shah Nawaj Committee) had disagreed with the facts. Though the report was submitted in 1956, the government has remained silent.
