VT Balram picks historical errors in ‘Ennu Ninte Moideen’
Mr Balram applauded the efforts of the film crew for making a watchable movie
Kochi: Congress MLA V.T. Balram on Monday criticised the makers of the romantic thriller ‘Ennu Ninte Moideen’ for the lack of homework and anachronism.
His claim that the Congress party was never against socialism as mentioned in the film also became a topic of discussion on the social media.
In a Facebook post, Mr Balram said that the director and the script writer of the new Malayalam film erred while dealing with historical facts. Many facts were distorted in the movie, he said.
According to him, the protagonist Moideen refers to R. Shankar's tenure(1962 to 1964) as the Kerala CM but the movie repeatedly mentioned Indira Gandhi as the Prime Minister of India. He clarified that Indira Gandhi came to power only in 1966.
Mr Balram, the most active politician on social media, also finds fault with the slogan ‘India is Indira and Indira is India’ used in the movie. He rightly points out that the slogan came much later in the 1970s.
According to him, the Congress party never criticised the people calling someone ‘a socialist.’ He said that during 1955 the party was in favour of socialism.
“In later years, Indira Gandhi came to the fore as a better socialist than her father Nehru. Mr Balram said that since the movie is based on a real life incident, the crew could have done some home work before filming.
He added that it was Indira who added ‘socialist secular’ to the preamble of the Constitution of India under the 42nd amendment.
However, Mr Balram applauded the efforts of the film crew for making a watchable movie.
“It’s an excellent movie in the romance category,” he posted lauding the performance of all the actors.
