I'm Safe: Ranbir Kapoor on the FIR registered against him
An FIR was lodged against Ranbir and Farhan for criminal breach of trust and forgery for promoting an online shopping site
Mumbai: Btown was abuzz recently after reports of an FIR filed against Ranbir Kapoor and Farhan Akhtar started to make rounds.
Just few days ago, a lawyer named Rajat Bansal filed an FIR against ‘Barfi’ actor Ranbir Kapoor and actor-director Farhan Akhtar for criminal breach of trust and forgery for promoting an online shopping site, which is allegedly 'duping' customers.
Bansal, who is a resident of Keshav Nagar area, lodged an FIR in Madiyaon police station against Ranbir and Farhan under IPC sections 406 (Punishment for criminal breach of trust) and 420 (forgery) on September 19.
At the trailer launch of ‘Tamasha’, Ranbir Kapoor was asked about his reaction on the issue, to which the actor calmly said, “Yes, I heard about it and on checking with my team I got to know that I am not a part of askmebazaar.com. So I am safe.”
FIR under the same sections has been registered against the directors of online portal askmebazaar.com - Sanjiv Gupta, Anand Sonbhadra, Piyush Pankaj, Kiran Kumar Sriniwas Murti and marketing officer Puja Goyal.
In his FIR, Bansal alleged that he had ordered a 40-inch LED TV from the site on August 23, for which he paid Rs 29,999 through his debit card, but as promised, he did not get the product within 10 days.
He also alleged that due to promotion of the site by Farhan and Ranbir, people fall prey to the site. He further alleged that the site sent him the bill but not the product.
While the officials of the portal could not be reached, Police is investigating the matter.
