Chennai BJP activist hacked to death
The gang after killing him escaped in their vehicles after cleaning up their sickles
Chennai: A 37-year-old financier and BJP activist was hacked to death in Maraimalai Nagar in Kancheepuram district on Monday night. The deceased was identified as Vijay Ganesh, a resident of MTC Nagar, Peranamannu near Maraimalai Nagar. He was a member of BJP district executive council and also headed the local traders’ forum.
“On Monday, after shutting his office, he was on the way to his house on his two-wheeler when four persons in two bikes stopped him. When the gang started attacking him with sickles, he took shelter in a nearby house belonging to a fish vendor named Selvi. But he was dragged out and hacked to death,” the police said.
The gang after killing him escaped in their vehicles after cleaning up their sickles. The police said that Vijay Ganesh, through his various business activities and also being a close buddy of cops, had some enemies in the area. He was a financier who gave loan on daily basis.
He was also dealing with scraps. He never entertained mamool seeking history sheeters in the area. He reportedly informed the police about the activities of rowdies who demanded mamool from him. But he was also using ‘service’ of certain gang to collect money from defaulters, police noted.
