Coimbatore: Drunk boy held for murder
A quarrel ensued between them after Rajan teased the boy on some issue
Coimbatore: A drunk minor boy has allegedly murdered a construction worker by assaulting him with a stone on his head following a drunken quarrel in Periyanaickenpalayam.
Police said the accused aged just 16 from Madurai had a drink with his fellow construction worker V. Rajan, 36 from Nagapattinam, when they got into a quarrel over some issue on Monday night.
They were engaged in construction work on Idigarai road, where they took alcohol in a temporary shed.
“A quarrel ensued between them after Rajan teased the boy on some issue. In a fit of rage, the boy attacked Rajan by pushing him down and also smashed his head with a hollow block stone. Bleeding profusely, Rajan died on the spot,” police said.
On receiving information, the Periyanaickenpalayam police rushed to the spot and sent the body of the deceased person for an autopsy at the Coimbatore medical college and hospital (CMCH).
The minor boy was booked for murder and was produced before the juvenile justice board.
