Hyderabad: As many as 12 people, including five women, were dead on Tuesday due to the withdrawal symptom in different parts of Telangana. With this, the total death count has increased to 37 after the government started its crack down on illegal manufacturing of liquor and adulterated toddy.
The maximum number of deaths on Tuesday were reported from Mahabub-nagar district, where seven people have died. Among them, two have committed suicide. Four people died in Medak district, while one person died in Karimnagar district. Several hundreds are being treated in various government hospitals.
According to state excise enforcement director Akun Sabharwal, more than 800 people are receiving treatment in districts like Nizamabad, Adilabad, Nalgonda, Medak and Mahabubnagar. As per the police account, worst condition prevailed in Mahabubnagar with more than 200 people are admitted various hospitals in the districts.
