Sri Lankan navy arrests 15 fishermen
All of them were detained at Gangesanthurai port in Sri Lanka, sources added
Nagapattinam: Fifteen fishermen were arrested by the Sri Lankan naval force at mid sea, southeast of the Kodiayakarai coast in Nagapattinam district in the early hours of Tuesday.
The 15 fishermen are Vadivelu, Senthil, Ramamoorthy, Muthukumar, Veeramani, Balaji, Saravanan, Kadhirvel, Kalaikumar, Balaguru,. Ramki, Suresh, Vadivel, Anjappan and Murgadas, hailing from Nambiyar Nagar fishermen’s hamlet near Nagapattinam.
They went into the sea in two boats on Saturday night, and were returning home early today when they were surrounded by the Sri Lankan naval force who arrested them along with their two boats, official sources told Deccan Chronicle.
All of them were detained at Gangesanthurai port in Sri Lanka, sources added.
