Senior official guilty of errors in SSLC results
The errors resulted from the use of a wrong score sheet format
Thiruvananthapuram: The SSLC results fiasco in the state was caused by former Pareeksha Bhavan secretary M.I. Sukumaran and data entry operators.
This is the finding of the committee headed by general education secretary V.S. Senthil which inquired into the errors in the results announced in April.
Education Minister P.K. Abdu Rabb told reporters here on Tuesday that action would be taken against the guilty persons after further discussions.
But the education department will not be able to proceed against the former secretary as he has already retired.
But criminal proceedings can be initiated against him. The same is the case with data entry operators who were daily wage staff.
The errors resulted from the use of a wrong score sheet format. Some errors occurred due to the lapses of data entry operators at the valuation camps.
The operators and score supervisors at the Pareeksha Bhavan did not check the correctness of the entries.
The chief superintendents at examination centres and the system manager had also failed to enter the correct data of absent students.
The delay in providing subjectivity correction marks and grace marks and the failure to communicate with the National Informatics Centre (NIC), which was in charge of the software, by the Pareeksha Bhavan secretary also led to the errors.
The system manager was inexperienced in handling such large-scale examinations. In the wake of the errors, the committee had recommended the appointment of a system manager and assistant system managers with experience on deputation basis.
