Movie Review: ‘Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon’ is a stale triple trouble
Kapil Sharma's debut disappoints in every possible way
Cast: Kapil Sharma, Varun Sharma, Elli Avram, Manjari Fadnis, Simran Kaur Mundi, Sai Lokur and Arbaaz Khan
Director: Abbas-Mustan
Rating: 1 star
One husband with three wives is not a new plot in our Indian films. Known for making thrillers, director duo Abbas-Mustan bring you an old wine in a new bottle. Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon is a rotten comic caper served with fresh toppings of sleazy dance numbers and dull one-liners. Popular stand up comedian, Kapil Sharma debuted with Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon who looks like a half-baked cake. He has made an honest attempt to make the viewers yawn rather than tickle their funny bone. The only character who keeps you glued to the seats is Karan played by Varun Sharma who manages to make you chuckle in bits and pieces.
Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon starts on an amusing note where Shiv Ram Kishan played by the male protagonist Kapil Sharma accidentally marries three women played by Manjari Fadnis, Sai Lokur and Simran Kaur Mundi. As luck would have it, all his wives live in the same building but none of them are aware of the fact that Shiv, Ram and Kishan are one and the same man and cheating on them. Varun Sharma played a young lawyer who keeps saving his friend Kapil’s juggled life situations. Fun begins when, Kapil’s actual love interest Elli Avram turns out to be his wives common close friend. To add to that, trouble shoots up to a higher degree when Kapil’s separated parents played by Sharat Saxena and Supriya Pathak land up in his house with the wish of meeting their daughter-in-law. This wasn’t enough for the makers to give a headache to the viewers as the deaf local goon played by Azbaaz Khan breaks the ice in the climax and reveals Kapil’s real identity.
Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon directed by Abbas-Mustan and written by Anukalp Goswami is a mixed cocktail of No Entry, Garam Masala, Saajan Chale Sasural and Sandwich. How conveniently the makers can serve a stale dish re-heated in a new bowl? If promotions are meant to fool the audience to buy a ticket to watch the film on this Friday, then hats off to the makers as they ensured the trailers made it seem like the film is a freshly baked rib tickling comedy. First 30 minutes of the film revealed the entire plot to be witnessed.
Wowing the viewers in every house of our country in the prime time, Kapil Sharma should definitely think about quitting silver screen post his disastrous debut. He surely worked hard on his comic timing but a film actor is a lot more when they come as a complete package. His emotionless face and taut dance moves are awful. Varun Sharma is surely a relief factor in the film. Female leads Simran Kaur Mundi, Sai Lokur and Manjari Fadnis are just about average. Arbaaz Khan, Sharat Saxena and Supriya Pathak did justice to their respective cameos.
With the series of previous two flops, Players and Race 2, Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon is surely completing the trio of director duo Abaas-Maustan. They should strictly play with their thriller forte. Screenplay by Anukalp Goswami and Dheeraj Sarna is feeble and shows a dismal face for 2 hours 16 minutes. The music by Dr. Zeus, Tanishk Bagchi, Javed Mohsin and Amjad- Nadeem is ear piercing and just takes away from the so-called flow of the story. Statutory warning to those who are expecting some groovy dance numbers, they are rather sleazy ones featured on Elli Avram. But if you are keen to witness skin shows from one of those Katrina Kaif’s look-alike, then go ahead!
Over all Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon is a brain dead comic caper. The film looks like a cheap Bhojpuri melodrama. If you are still curious to watch the comedy king of small screen Kapil, then you could try Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon but don’t complain to us later!
