Cable operator held for molesting girl

A 25-year-old cable operator was arrested by Mahalakshmi Layout police for allegedly molesting an 11-year-old girl

Bengaluru: A 25-year-old cable operator was arrested by Mahalakshmi Layout police for allegedly molesting an 11-year-old girl near her school situated in North Bengaluru, on Wednesday evening. The accused, identified as Maltesh, a resident of Mahalakshmi Layout, was booked under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO Act) 2012. He was thrashed by the local residents before being handed over to the police. 
 
According to the police, the incident occurred around 4 pm. Mahantesh, was waiting near the school when he saw the victim coming out of the school. Maltesh told the victim that he will buy her new books and took her to an isolated place near the school and touched her at inappropriate places. When the girl started to scream, the accused feared getting caught and fled. 
 
The case came to light after the victim went to her house and narrated the incident to her parents, who approached the police station and lodged a complaint. Based on which the Mahalakshmi Layout police arrested Maltesh. The police also learnt that Maltesh’s aunt was working as an aayah in the same school, where the victim was studying. Hence he had access to the school, said a senior police officer. Mahalakshmi Layout police have registered a case and begun investigations.
