Thiruvananthapuram: The Admission Supervisory Committee headed by Justice J.M. James has imposed some restrictions on the three medical colleges which were  allowed by the state government to admit 10 percent students from other states in management quota.

The committee said that in case they wanted to admit students from outside the state, it should be only from the all-India pre-medical entrance examinations, Justice James told DC.

The committee gave this instruction  while  the government order  came up for ratification.

The colleges are P.K. Das Institute of Medical Sciences, Palakkad, Mount Zion Medical College, Pathanamthitta, and DM Institute of Medical Sciences,Wayanad.

Earlier, the Medical Council of India  had denied permissions to these colleges for this year's admission alleging lack of infrastructure. Following this the colleges had approached the High Court to get an approval for admissions.

They had earlier signed an agreement with the government to admit students to  50 percent seats in government quota.

They complained that it was difficult to get students from the state in the management quota as it was  the last leg of admissions.  The MCI has fixed September 30 as the last date for admissions.
