Andhra Pradesh: Snake spotted inside hospital premises where newborn died

Admin conducted drive to clean the government hospital

Guntur: The district administration conducted a special cleanliness drive at the state government general hospital, days after a newborn died due to multiple rodent bites inside the ICU of the hospital.

District Collector Kantial Dande personally led the drive yesterday in which around 500 employees of different departments participated.

They also repaired electronic equipments and demolished dilapidated walls of the hospital.

On August 26, a ten-day-old baby boy died after being bitten by rats in the intensive care unit of the hospital. Wounds were seen on the face and body of the newborn.

Andhra Pradesh Health Minister K Srinivas had sought a report from the hospital in this regard and an inquiry was ordered into the incident. YSR Congress had also demanded a high-level probe into the incident.

A snake was reportedly spotted inside the hospital premises.

Another woman claimed that she was bitten by a rat inside the Guntur government general hospital.
