Casualty services in 37 taluk hospitals
The strike by the KGMOA on the issue had crippled health care services recently
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In a major decision aimed at upgrading the health care facilities in the government sector, the cabinet on Wednesday decided to introduce casualty services in 37 taluk hospitals across the state.
As many as 140 posts have been sanctioned for casualty services. Taluk hospitals at Thodupuzha and Haripad have been upgraded to district hospitals while Irrikur CHC becomes taluk hospital.
The decisions come in the wake of widespread criticism from doctors about acute staff shortage in upgraded hospitals. The strike by the Kerala Government Medical Officers Association (KGMOA) on the issue had crippled health care services recently.
The cabinet entrusted Kozhikode collector to negotiate compensation package with land owners who have agreed to give land for the development of Karipur international airport development.
Other decisions
New police stations at Manjoor (Kottayam), Muttom (Idukki), Thankamani (Idukki), Edathala (Ernakulam), Cherupuzha (Kannur), Chithara (Kollam)and Malayalapuzha (Pathanamthitta).
Compensation for crop loss due to natural calamities increased. Kerala State Child Welfare Council staff pay revision approved.
