Two including doctor killed in road accidents in Bengaluru

Adugodi traffic police have registered a case under section 304 A of IPC

Bengaluru: In separate incidents, two persons including, a 35-year-old doctor was killed after a speeding car hit his bike from rear on Wednesday in Adugodi and High Grounds traffic police station limits.

Mohammed Shoaib Zaqui, a doctor with Jain Hospital and a resident of Koramangala was returning to his house around 12.30 pm on Wednesday noon when the accident occurred. Dr. Zaqui was taking a turn near Adugodi veterinary hospital on Hosur Road when an over-speeding Santro Car bearing Andhra Pradesh registration hit the former’s bike from the rear resulting into his fall leaving him critically injured.

The accused driver managed to flee the spot abandoning his car. A few locals who rushed to his aid alerted the police who shifted him to a nearby hospital. Dr. Zaqui succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday late night at a private hospital around 11.30 pm.

Adugodi traffic police have registered a case under section 304 A of IPC and efforts are on to nab the accused driver. In another incident, a 70-year-old pedestrian was allegedly mowed down by an over-speeding tempo traveler on Wednesday night in High Grounds traffic police station limits. Krishna Murthy, a florist was crossing the road when a tempo traveler which was being driven in a rash and negligent manner mowed him down near Subedar Chatram Road, Swastik Circle, Sheshadripuram around 1.30 pm. He was immediately rushed to K C General Hospital. But, the doctors referred him to NIMHANS owing to severe head injuries. Krishna Murthy succumbed to his injuries around 10 pm in NIMHANS hospital.
