Kerala Police nab suspect killer in Haridwar
Accused was staying at temple-run guest house

KOTTAYAM: Satheesh Babu, 38, the accused who was absconding after the murder of Sister Amala of the Lisieux Carmelite Convent in Pala on Thursday, fell into the police net at Haridwar, Uttarakhand, on Wednesday.
The local police took him into custody from a temple-run guest house after some Keralites at Haridwar identified him from the pictures flashed on television channels A police team from Kottayam left for Haridwar on Thursday evening for follow-up action.
The accused reached Haridwar on September 22 by train and went to the temple trust guest house. He approached the temple priest, Krishnan Namboothiri, a Malayali, on the guise that he had lost his purse and money and hence wanted food and accommodation.
Krishnan Namboothiri contacted Satheesh Babu’s brother in Kerala through mobile phone messages. The police cyber cell too traced the messages of the accused and confirmed his presence at Haridwar.
The cell also found that a relative at Haridwar had received a call from him. Kottayam district police chief Satheesh Bino told DC that they had yet to confirm whether the person taken into custody was the accused.
“A police team led by Pala DySP B. Suneesh Babu left for Delhi by flight and they will reach Haridwar by Friday morning. More details will be known by Friday afternoon,” he added.
