Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu owns assets worth Rs 42.40 lakh and his wife Bhuvaneswari, Rs 33.07 crore in 2014-15. TD leader Nara Lokesh owns assets worth Rs 7.67 crore and his wife Brahmani, Rs 4.77 crore. The assets of Devansh, the son of Lokesh and Brahmani, would be declared from next year.
Mr Naidu still owns a 1993 model Ambassador car, the list of assets released by Mr Lokesh on Saturday showed. Mr Lokesh challenged YSRC, Congress and TRS leaders to declare their assets before accusing the Chief Minsiter of corruption. There are only minor changes in the Naidu family holdings, with Mr Naidu’s bank going down by Rs 20 lakh.
“It is easy to throw stones at us but let all those levelling allegations against us first declare their assets. As many as 34 assets-related complaints were alleged against us, but not a single one has been proved till date. This is because our family conducts business as per rules and in a transparent way. We have not taken even a single benefit for heritage though TD-government is in office for the past 15 months in AP,” he said.
To a query whether he would ask his father-in-law and Hindupur MLA, Balakrishna too to disclose his assets, Mr Lokesh said all politicians and elected representatives should declare their assets, and it is not fair to single out any one and ask him or her to do it. On the possibility of his family diversifying investments into cement and launch a newspaper or a TV channel, Mr Lokesh said his family’s income is from Heritage Company and they are happy with the earnings derived by selling milk and vegetables.
