Hyderabad: YSRC chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy will take up an indefinite fast at Guntur from October 7 to mount pressure on the Centre to grant special status to AP.
The fast was postponed from September 26 after the government refused to give permission citing the ongoing Ganesh immersions. YSRC leader Botsa Satyanarayana told reporters that the new schedule had been drawn up at a high-level meeting. The party would suggest an alternative venue if the proposed venue was not approved.
He accused AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu of trying to water down the issue, trading the state’s development for his political gains. He said the TD government was not showing any interest in getting special status for the state. He said the party chief was determined sit on the fast.
