SFI stir turns violent

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Six people including three policemen were injured when SFI's secretariat march over admissions to self financing medical college turned violent on Monday.
The policemen injured by stones were identified as Sameer Khan and Aneesh, both attached to AR Camp, Nandavanom.
A third police driver has suffered minor injuries when protesters vandalised a jeep. The injured SFI activist identified as Lijin, Unni and Abhilash had slipped and fallen as water cannons were used when protesters tried to push down the barricades at around 11pm.
Protestors who withdrew from Secretariat regrouped around 300 metres on the road leading to Spencer junction and hurled petrol bombs. Police retaliated by firing around half a dozen tear gas shell.
