Accused confesses to killing another nun

Admits to murder upon questioning by cops; case booked

Kottayam: Satheesh Babu, 38,   the alleged killer of Sister  Amala  of the Lisieux Carmelite convent  in Pala, had also murdered     Sister Jose Maria Eruppakadu,  81, of  the Sacred Heart convent  at Chettuthodu  in the district in April.
 
He confessed to the murder during questioning by the police and a case has been registered against him,   said  Pala DySP B.  Suneesh Babu. 
 
Sr Jose Maria  was  found dead with injuries on her head on  April 15  in her room in the convent.  The convent authorities thought that she had injured herself  by falling down and no case was registered  with the police.  But they had lodged a complaint about the missing of Rs 70,000 from the convent , but the case was not followed up seriously.  
 
The  body of the nun will be exhumed from the    cathedral cemetery in Pala.  The fracture on  the skull could be  identified and presented in the court as evidence, said police.
 
She had suffered  head injuries similar  to those sustained by Sister Amala.     Satheesh Babu  was taken to the Lisieux  convent on Tuesday to collect evidence  in the  case.
