Hyderabad: The construction of official buildings such as Assembly, High Court, Secretariat and others at new capital city Amaravati will start only after one year. The designing of buildings and planning will take at least minimum one year, a senior official who is also involved in the construction of capital city Amaravati told this newspaper.
After laying the foundation stone to capital city Amaravati on October 22, the government will take up the works of creating the infrastructure in the capital region. The central government has already sanctioned Rs 1,000 crore separately for the creation of infrastructure at capital city. In the first year after foundation, the government will take up the works like laying roads, underground power cables, drinking water facility, drainage and others.
A senior official said the Assembly, High Court, Secretariat and other supporting components will have world-class architectural designs. "For this it will take a lot of tome, we want to built Amaravati as more beautiful with international designs and planning," he said. In response to Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA)
"Request for Qualification" (RFQ) 11 architectural firms have come forward with bids for architectural design of capital complex in Amaravati capital city.
The procedure for the selection of the firm is after receiving the bids for RFQ, the CRDA will shortlist them to move to the next stage and these shortlisted firms have to respond to the Request for Proposal (RFP) and this will involve 80 per cent weightage for concept design competition and 20 per cent weightage for financial proposal. But the officials thought that these 11 firms may not meet world-class design standards.
They also thought keeping in mind the global aspirations of the Amaravati capital city project the architectural design of the capital complex would need to be led by an internationally recognised architect whose design itself would become a brand to identify with for Amaravati. A senior official said the designing of buildings and planning is more important for the new capital Amaravati city. It will take one year time and the government will complete some constructions before next general elections.
