GUNTURLocals led by Macharla ZPTC P. Gopi Reddy and Telugu Desam leaders rushed to the spot and demanded that the TS employees stop the works. They claimed that Anupu was in AP and questioned how the Telangana government could operate services from here. They further claimed that a pylon of the Nagarjunasagar project had been allotted to Telangana during bifurcation and it could be used to operate the boats.

Police, led by Gurazala DSP M. Nageswara Rao and CI, D. Sivasankar, rushed to the spot and inquired about the ruckus. They questioned the TS Tourism employees about permissions and were informed that they did not have any. The police then contacted higher officials and asked the Telangana officials to get permissions to start boating at the spot. Following this, the Telangana employees returned with the two boats.

Meanwhile, Mr Gopi Reddy and other leaders alleged that recently Telangana had started boating service at Nagarjunasagar and they were seeking a landing point at Anupu to run services from AP. They said that AP tourism was earning good revenues from boat tourism here and Telangana was trying to usurp on AP's territory. Executive director of TS Tourism Development Corporation Amarendera said that they had only one boating point and didn't have a landing point and hence their department staff had gone to Anupu to establish a landing point. He added that they would resolve the issue amicably.

Meanwhile another issue arose concerning tourism at Nagarjunasagar with people from Andhra Pradesh creating an issue about storage of materials on the AP side for building a launch for Telangana. Contract for building a launch worth Rs 1.90 crore had been given to a contractor from Visakhapatnam by the Telangana Tourism department and the contractor was assembling the boat there. Locals from AP living near the location protested about assembling the launch in AP.

The Krishna district DSP and Macherla tahsildar asked the contractor to leave, stating that it would take a long time and the contractor didn't have the required permissions. The ship parts were later transported to Telangana. Meanwhile TRS leaders staged a rasta-roko and burnt an effigy of AP in Hyderabad and traffic came to a halt on the new bridge due to the dharna.
