KOTTAYAM: The Yogakshema Sabha,  representing the  Brahmin community in the state, has initiated moves to  associate  itself with the political party to be formed by the  SNDP Yogam.    The Sabha leaders will meet the SNDP  leadership on October 5  in this connection.

"We have already held the first round of discussions with the  SNDP. However, we are ready to associate with anyone who will help us  to get  political power. The only condition is that those who align with us should accept our demands,"   president of the Yogakshema Sabha, Akkeeraman Kalidasan Bhattathiripad, told DC.

During their meeting with  SNDP Yogam general secretary Vellapally Natesan,   they had discussed the need to form a collective, which should be later  developed politically, he said.

Though the Brahmin community in the state is less in number compared  to the other  so- called minorities, they enjoyed  reservation benefits, he said.

Moreover, the organization with around seven lakh  members  was  not being given its due  by the political parties, he added.
