Bengaluru: For India ‘A’, the three-day game gave ample indication of their bench strength but for the second-string Bangladesh side, the future looked bleak as they crashed to an innings and 32-run defeat at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, here on Tuesday.
For Heath Streak’s men, the 15-day tour has not been an ideal preparation for the home series against Australia, which in itself hangs in the balance following security concerns.
On the third day, an experienced Bangla did not have the stomach for a fight as they slumped to 151 in the second essay, minutes before going into lunch.
Off-spinner Jayant Yadav (4/28 & 3/48) returned with a bagful of wickets while pacer Ishwar Pandey (3/28) and Abhimanyu Mithun (2/23) also got into the act.
Resuming at 36/2 in reply to India’s 411, needing a further 147 to make the hosts bat again, the overnight pair of Mominul Haque and Liton Das hung around to gather 61 runs for the third wicket before the latter was bowled in the 20th over by Pandey. Das’ departure then triggered a collapse.
