Mumbai: Karan Johar, who holds the rights to the Hindi remake of Hollywood film ‘The Fault in Our Stars’, had announced that the film will be helmed by Homi Adajania. While Deepika Padukone has been roped in as the leading lady, the film's male lead is yet to be finalised.

According to reports, Mohit Suri will be stepping in as Homi’s replacement. The film is currently in its scripting stage and apparently, the makers and Homi had a few creative differences. They then decided that it is best to part ways.

Deepika is gearing up for the release of 'Bajirao Mastani' with Ranveer Singh and Priyanka Chopra. She has also wrapped up shooting for 'Tamasha' with Ranbir Kapoor. Initially, Varun Dhawan was finalised for the role, however he stepped out citing date issues. Later, Sushant Singh Rajput’s name was brought up, but no official announcements have been made about the same.

'The Fault In Our Stars' is the story of a 16 year-old girl suffering from cancer who eventually falls in love with a cancer survivor.
