The actor, who had also attended the previous edition of the league will be seen cheering this time as well. “He has confirmed his presence at the inaugural event and will be a part of the it,” sources confirmed.
Along with A R Rahman and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt will also be performing at the inaugural, which will be held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in the city on October 3.
Rahman will be doing a special rendition of the national anthem for the inaugural. In a video launched on the official Twitter page of the Indian Super League, he has spoken about how sports unites people.
“This brings us together, making us forget the differences. We have different traditions, different cultures, different food and different attires; but we’re all one. In any sports event, we’ve seen so much joy and excitement. So, for the performance we have lots of drummers, singers and a band with me singing; this is a collage forming into one. I am proud of being a part of this. I have always wanted to create something, which builds up to the national anthem and have a track that captures the spirit of the people. I want people to take a cue and clap and join with me in it at the opening ceremony,” he was quoted saying.
