Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is upset with banks for indiscriminately debiting money from farmers’ accounts towards loan repayment and has asked them to desist. The CM had received complaints that the banks were debiting money from farmers’ accounts that had been received by the government under various schemes — like for self-help groups (DWCRA). Some of the women who received the money had outstanding loans and their banks debited the amount towards loan repayment.

Similarly, the government had sanctioned money to some people for treatment under the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund and in Prakasam and Anantapur districts, some banks debited the amount.
