Bengaluru: 15-year-old cooks up kidnap story after bad score, losing cycle
However when policemen questioned the boy, they found something amiss in his story
Bengaluru: A fake kidnap story cooked up by a 15-year-old sent the Jnanabharathi cops into a tizzy on Wednesday after a minor boy and his father approached the police to lodge a kidnap complaint. The boy accompanied by his father initially told the police that he was kidnapped by two youth, after they sprayed some sedative on him and forcibly took him in a van.
He said the incident happened at around 8:15 am in Nagarbhavi while he was going to school on his bicycle. He was a resident of Papareddy Palya.
The minor then said that when the van slowed down somewhere in Yelahanka, around 12:30 noon, he managed to jump off the vehicle and escape. Later when he managed to reach home with the help of some locals, who helped him with some money, he explained about the incident to his father.
His harried father informed media persons and took him along to Jnanabharathi police station to lodge a complaint. However when the policemen questioned the boy, they found something amiss in his story.
Later when the police repeatedly questioned him, he blurted out that he had performed miserably in his mid-term Mathematics examination on Tuesday and was upset about that. To add to his misery, his bicycle and school bag got stolen on Wednesday morning, while he was going to school.
Scared of confronting his father, the boy cooked up a fake kidnap story to evoke sympathy, the police said.
The police warned the minor, counselled the parents and sent them home without registering a complaint.
