Modern market soon for Charminar area in Hyderabad
GHMC to take up the construction of 150 modern markets

Hyderabad: Charminar will now have a modern market for vegetables, meat, fruits and flowers. The GHMC has identified plots to construct the market.
The GHMC has already invited tenders and begun construction of markets in four localities. At present the city has 30 markets and as per a survey for every 10,000 people there must be a market.
The Chief Minister has directed GHMC to take up the construction of 150 modern markets with necessary infrastructure and basic minimum facilities.
GHMC commissioner and special officer Somesh Kumar said, “The GHMC is planning to take up the construction of 50 modernised markets in the first phase. Each market will cost Rs 50 lakh. The designs and proposals are in process. The minimum area needed is 400 square yards for each market. The deputy and zonal commissioners are identifying vacant land. The total budget allocation for this is Rs 25 crore.”
