Facebook has unveiled new, mobile-friendly features for Facebook profiles. There are three main improvements that will give more opportunities to control the content showcased on a profile.

Bring your profile to life

Facebook is taking the next step in the evolution of profiles by introducing profile videos. Soon, users will be able to film a short, looping video clip that will play for anyone who visits their profile.

However, Facebook understands the importance of the classic profile pictures and so it is also developing new features for the same. It will soon roll out the ability to set a temporary version of a profile picture that reverts back to the previous profile picture at a specified time.

Improved profile controls

Facebook always gave users control on who could see the information they showcase on their profile; now it’s making it easier for users to see what others can view by introducing a new customizable space at the top of the profile.

Users can curate this space by changing the visibility of the fields that show up here. They can also fill out the new, one-line ‘Bio’ field. About fields like work and education details to appear there; and even visually highlight what’s important by choosing up to five Featured Photos to be showcased at the top of the profile. While this space is visible to anyone who visits the profile, a user will have full control of what information appears there.

Design improvements to mobile profile

Along with new profile features, Facebook will be introducing some design changes to the mobile profile that improves the profile layout and presents profile information in a more visually engaging way.
