Chennai: It’s not only politicos like DMK’s M K Stalin and PMK’s Anbumani Ramadoss who are using the social media to woo young voters ahead of next year’s Assembly polls. The Election Commission of India too has directed the state Chief Electoral Officer to run campaigns through social media sites. Following the directive, the office of CEO in Tamil Nadu has formed three tech teams to promote the election process in TN. The teams will have their first brainstorming session on Oct. 12.

A senior election department official, at present undergoing training in Delhi, said strategies were being designed and preliminary work was underway to give the poll process a technical advantage. A team led by joint chief electoral officer (information technology), Ajay Yadav is forming the IT wing by roping techies and those specialising in app designs.
According to poll department sources, the IT wing network will be ready by next month and will roll out new content through Facebook, mobile apps and YouTube. nTurn to P3
