Madonna likes to take things slowly
Premam fame singer-turned-actress will be seen opposite Dileep in King Liar
Excelling in one field is great, but in two roles! It’s truly amazing! Madonna Sebastian, who donned the role of Celine in Premam proved that she could not only croon and make hearts melt but also act and set those same hearts flutter.
A singer first and foremost, she has been trained in Western and Carnatic music, has done TV shows and also sung for a Malayalam film You Too Brutus. Madonna will now be playing Dileep’s love interest in her second upcoming Malayalam film King Liar, which marks the coming together of Siddique-Lal duo after a long hiatus.
It was obviously the team of the film that was the deciding factor in Madonna signing the film. She says, “I feel blessed that this offer came to me and it would be really great to work with such gifted artistes. The offer came as a surprise and was totally unexpected and I really don’t want to speak too much about my character.”
Madonna had been offered a lot of movies post the success of Premam and she says: “I did a movie tentatively titled as Eskimo Kadhal in Tamil opposite Vijay Sethupathi directed by Nalan Kumaraswamy. It’s a great team and I am very excited about the project.”
Madonna also believes in taking things slow and likes to concentrate on one project at a time which is why she has not signed for any other Malayalam movie. Talking about her criteria for selecting a role, Madonna opines: “When great directors call me and ask me if I can do a role, I am not someone who can easily say no because I believe that to work with them itself is a matter of prestige. Personally, I am someone who gives preference to the script and to the director. If I feel the director is good and can deliver what he promises, then I don’t think too much about other details.”
Meanwhile, Madonna has been seriously pursuing her passion for singing too. She mentions, “I am doing my singing alongside too. I have a team of musicians with me and we are planning on doing a certain amount of shows and we have a gig coming up for which we are doing the rehearsals. I also sang for a recent movie, which I cannot disclose too much about.” Singing before acting or acting before singing? Madonna very clearly states, “Singing has been a part of my life since childhood and I cannot think of a Madonna without singing. Singing will always remain my life blood!”
