Taller people are more likely to develop cancer, study says
Breast cancer and melanoma were discovered to be especially influenced by a person's height
Your height also plays an important role when it comes to cancer risk, according to recent research, according to report published in the Medical Daily. Experts from the Karolinska Institute and University of Stockholm in Sweden claim that cancer risk increases with height.
The research team examined media and other records of around 5.5 million people, all born in Sweden between 1938 and 1991. The participants’ (as adults) heights ranged from 100cm (3-foot-3) to 225cm (7-foot-3). The researchers discovered that a total cancer risk and risks of breast cancer and melanoma were higher with increasing height.
They concluded that with each 10 cm of height, cancer risk increased by 18 percent in woman and 11 percent in men. These findings were presented at the European Society for Pediatric Endocrinology.
