New Delhi: When asked about the increasing Chinese PLAAF sorties over the Tibet region bordering India, the IAF chief Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha said it was true that the Chinese PLAAF presence in that area was “increasing exponentially” and that the Chinese are building “tremendous capability”.

He, however, pointed out that every country decides on its course of action within its territory even as he said the Chinese have a “right to do what they are doing”. He said India was taking its own measures for its security. He said advanced landing grounds are being activated in the north and northeast.

On whether the IAF was prepared to face a “two-front war”, a euphemism for a joint Sino-Pakistani attack on India, he said the IAF was focused on its requirements for capability to deter any conflict.
