Hyderabad: The Secunderabad Cantonment Board officials woke up — but only partially — to the appalling condition of the West Marredpally Road after Deccan Chronicle reported on the issue on October 1 (West Marredpally roads still in the Stone Age).

The repairs are being carried out on a small section of the road. The badly shattered road is not being re-laid as it should be, given the condition it is in.

The SCB has sanctioned over Rs 30 lakh for repair of this particular stretch, sources said. The work that was done on Saturday did not seem to match the allocated amount.

The contractor appeared to  have just poured a mixture of gravel and sand on a cluster of potholes opposite Gokul Restaurant. Nothing was done in front of Heritage Fresh.

The repairs are being carried out only on certain portions of the main stretch. Potholes have not been filled up nor have the speed-breakers of repaired, especially in front of the Mahankali temple.
