“The woman picked the baby and was pampering her. Meanwhile, Farida requested her to take care of the baby and left to attend nature’s call. When she returned after a few minutes, she could not find both her baby and the woman. After a frantic search for the baby, she informed the hospital staff and relatives. Later, the police were alerted about the incident,” the police said.

Staff: Mother knew woman?
The hospital staff were shocked to hear that a baby was stolen from the ward. However, the staff suspect that the mother knows the woman who stole the baby. “After feeding the baby, she handed him over to the woman. We suspect, she knew the woman or or else why would have she handed over the child to her?,” an official in the hospital said.
The mother was admitted at the pediatric ICU from where the baby was stolen. “We immediately informed the Commercial Street police about the incident,” said the Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr. S S Khadri, who added, “The entire event has been captured by the CCTV camera placed outside the NICU.”
