Jawans who attacked cop at large
Police says details of one of the accused have been obtained
Hyderabad: The cops are on the lookout for the soldiers who assaulted a police constable in full public view at Langar Houz on Saturday night.
Investigation officials say that they have got the details of one of the accused, Sepoy Vijay Rawat, who lives at Golconda.
They also said that they did not know which regiment the offenders were from, in order to approach Army officials.
Meanwhile, sources said a group of Army officials visited the police station and contacted top cops to settle the issue. However, both Army and police officials denied this saying that an FIR had been lodged and law would take its own course.
Senior cops said that in order to arrest the soldiers, they needed to formally seek permission from the concerned Army officials.
On Saturday, when an argument had broken out on a busy road between the cop and Armymen, both parties were in civil dresses. As the argument progressed, the victim told them that he was a cop to which the accused shouted that he was from the Army.
Following this he grabbed his helmet and thrashed the victim on his head.
Locals tried to stop the fight. Meanwhile, due to repeated hits on his head, the victim, B. Sunil Kumar, was injured. Doctors said that his condition is stable.
An FIR was registered under IPC Section 324 (for voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means).
